Role Summary

The Biocontainment & Quarantine Officer guards the most dangerous floor in the building — the BSL-4 / Gain-of-Function Vault and the quarantine queue around it. The role enforces containment gating on every restricted-agent and engineered-vector movement, runs sequence verification and the two-person rule, and isolates any exposed, contaminated, or BCL-escalated material before a single breach can threaten the floor. The agents behind that door never reach the shelf — and never leave without the officer's seal.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Enforce containment gating on all restricted-agent and engineered-vector output — sequence verification, containment trial, and the two-person rule — before any release to the stockpile.
  2. Run the quarantine and triage queue, isolating exposed, contaminated, or BCL-escalated material and material under recovery.
  3. Control access to the BSL-4 vault and gain-of-function suites under logged, Director-authorized entry.
  4. Maintain biocontainment systems, decon, and PPE stocks to a fault-tolerant standard.
  5. Hold the containment watch, responding to breach, exposure, and power-loss events on the BCL-4 floor.
  6. Keep the custody and movement log for every graded line audit-clean and sealed.

Hazard & Safety

Hazard advisory. High-consequence exposure: routine work with BCL-4 agents and engineered vectors carries lethal exposure risk; full containment protocol, serology, and standing countermeasure prophylaxis required.

Compensation

F-3 facilities band with hazard uplift and full medical including priority countermeasure access.
